Sensor System Overview
The capacitive height sensing system consists of:
- Sensor electronics — Generates and measures capacitance signal
- Coaxial cable — Transmits signal from cutting head to controller
- Nozzle contact — Nozzle acts as the capacitive sensing element
Common Cable Issues
| Symptom | Cause | Solution |

| Erratic height control | Cable shielding damage | Replace coaxial cable |
| No sensor signal | Connector corrosion | Clean with contact cleaner |
| Drifting offset | Temperature effect | Allow 15min warm-up |
| Noise interference | Poor grounding | Check ground connection |
ENGINEERING TIP
Cable handling: The sensor cable is the most fragile component in the cutting head assembly. Always create a service loop with at least 50mm bend radius at the cable entry point. Never route the sensor cable alongside high-power cables (>100A) — electromagnetic interference can cause false height readings and catastrophic nozzle crashes.
